Blue Moon on New Year's Eve

Every 2.5 years there is a full blue moon twice in a calendar month. However, having a blue moon on New Year's Eve happens every few decades. The last blue moon we had on New Year's Eve was in 1990. Even more rare, though, is the partial lunar eclipse that will accompany the blue moon. A partial lunar eclipse is when the moon is partially darkened by the Earth's shadow. Not only everyone will have the opportunity to experience this, only Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Brazil, Canada, Australia and parts of the Unites States.
